HOW TO CREATE A GABFOODS-PERFECT EVENT

Since we first opened the restaurant in Turkey, we've come a long way, we’ve grown from delivery to caterings in less than a year, and we could not have done it without all of you.  There is no doubt that we love working caterings, having the opportunity to create with different brands to generate the perfect experience for our clients and guests, never forgetting to make each detail matter!

Because we love to share secrets with our friends, and we want to teach you how to get the Gabfoods event in your own home.  There is no need to wait for the next holiday, or a special occasion to reunite with friends and family, a fun dinner party is always the way to go.  We'll teach you how to create a fun theme, pick a menu and have decorations to match, let’s get started!

  1. The perfect theme
  2. The menu
  3. Decorating time!

The Perfect Theme

As we mentioned before, there’s no need for a special occasion or holiday to be coming up in order to host a party.  Do you have any interests you’d like to celebrate?  Maybe you’ve just come back from a trip and are feeling inspired by the culture you’ve acquired. Perhaps you’re excited about the seasons changing or a new moon cycle.  Whatever it is it can be the perfect base to build off of and create a delicious menu and have striking decorations!  Take our latest lunch for Jo Malone for example, inspired by their new scents, we created a voyage through taste to the magical island of Sardinia!

Here are some theme ideas:

  • Childhood breakfast
  • Grandmothers “aperitivos”
  • A color scheme
  • A time period (60’s,70’s,2000’s…)
  • Candyland
  • Movie reenactment

A Delicious Menu

Of course this is the part we enjoy the most!  Once you have your theme picked out, start making a list, think about what you have at home that could be useful (no waste please!), and begin the creative process.  It's now time to do some research to get the juices flowing! Suppose you chose the 2000’s as the theme for your gathering, what was popular back in the day?  Any textures stick out? What are the colors that catch the eye?  Once you have your list of ideas, it's time to have fun! Round up a collection of appetizers, a main dish and a side-dish or two, and of course a dessert!  (Click here to get access to our delicious recipes!) We love print out menus!  Coming back to our Cerdeña extravaganza, here is our special italian menu for the special day:

We chose to start off with a artichoke salad with Italian bottarga, continued with gnoccheti with burnt sage butter, anchovies, black olives, capers and sun dried tomatoes, and finished off with a sardinian "seada": riccota and honey pasty with honey blossom.

Decorating time!

Not only is it a good idea to decorate your table, but your meals can serve as decorations themselves, appealing to the senses, using food as art.  Don't be afraid to add some flowers to your spread!  Following the “research” you’ve done for the theme, add some of those elements to your table.  At Gabfoods we love using fruits and vegetables, they can decorate on their own or you can make them into candleholders!  All creativity is welcomed and appreciated at the dinner table.  Here are some examples of how we do it in Gabfoods.

Walking through the doors of the venue you were transported to Italy, full of vibrant orange colors, with wooden and ceramic elements for the table.
